Parks Bung Hatta













             For fans of herbs, Parks Bung Hatta is a natural beauty, filled with rare plants and exotic flowers. In the past known as Setya Mulya Botanic Garden, this botanical garden is home to many unique species of tropical plants and species endemic to Sumatra. Stroll around the park and you will see plants that you may not find anywhere else on earth.               The main attraction of this park is a giant flower, Rafflesia Arnoldi, the largest flower in the world. Named Rafflesia Arnoldi according to the British Government Lieutenant Governor, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles who had lived in Bengkulu in a long time, and the botanist Joseph Arnold who first discovered the flower on the slopes of the Bukit Barisan mountains.               This flower is a rare miracle. it takes up to 10 months to develop and only bloom for about 15 days. When in full bloom, has a diameter of one meter. This plant has no roots, stems but consist of thread like plants on the vines. These flowers usually bloom between July and September. This flower is famous not only measure the magnitude, but because it smells rotten.
