Parahu tangkuban famous folk legend that Sangkuriang West Java community. The mountain is shaped like an upturned boat, which according to legend it is because Sangkuriang failed to fulfill promises made boats and the lake in one night as a condition to marry Dayang Sumbi which in essence is his own mother. Sangkuriang which failed because it ran out of time and then kicked the boat to drift away and overturned. The capsized boat face down, which in Sundanese called tangkub, so until now called Tangkuban Parahu.
Large crater contained in this mountain is an amazing sight and you can explore the crater approximately 2 hours. Sulfur gas still comes out of the crater, although not active. From the top of this mountain, Bandung is simply vast expanse at the foot of the mountain. Visit this place as proof you have to 'see' Bandung.
Tangkuban Perahu (2084 m asl) is formed of repeating Volcano eruption activity Sunda. In a note during the past two centuries, the mountain erupted several times, namely in 1829, 1846, 1862, 1887, 1896, 1910, and 1929. Tangkuban Perahu has three main crater formations, namely: Crater Paguyangan 90000-40000 year old Rhinos , Volcanic activity and then move and form Upas at 40000-10000 years ago. Finally, the activity moves to Kawah Ratu, 10,000 years ago until now.
